All anglers are reminded to be careful when using baited fish traps
These fish trapping devices are increasingly being used to target fish species and shellfish for bait or food such as lobsters, prawns, wrasse, blennies, gobies and rockling. Please be aware that these traps can, if left unattended, also inadvertently catch other marine animals. There are a number of reports from estuaries in the South West where they have subsequently caught and drowned otters. Please either refrain from using them or be very careful in their use. If you do catch or see anything unusual or suspicious when using such traps please report it immediately to the CFSA recorder. If you do find one abandoned, please take the time to remove and destroy it responsibly.
