CFSA Easter Open Shore Competition
The CFSA would like to thank Gwinear angling for hosting the easter comp and sponsoring the prizes. A hard months fishing led to a poor amount of species returned to the scales but among them some fine sized fish, Martin Rickard took 1st prize with a excellent Bull Huss & Dogfish combination winning him £250 + Pool

Kirk Lorimer
Tragically on Saturday 17th the angling community lost another angler, Kirk Lorimer of ECC Ports. The Cornish Federation of Sea Anglers sends its sincere thoughts and heartfelt sympathy to the family & friends of Kirk who tragically lost his life at Tintagel Head in the early hours of saturday.

Lowen Chy Angling Open Competition
Another successful open competition, attended by lots of anglers. Febuary is normally a hard month to fish so it was good to see some decent fish brought back. Paul Hawken (Grenville SAC) took a first prize of £200 + Pool with a fine Bull Huss 12-14-7

Mermaid Tackle Flatfish Competition
1st Gary Sicolo flounder 2-0-1 (£200 +pool)
2nd Jimmy Young flounder 1-9-1
3rd Darren Thomas flounder 1-6-7
4th= Dave Hamill & Ed Jane flounder 1-5-5
6th Mike Delbridge flounder 1-3-8
7th Shaun Thomas dab 0-9-8
Over 40 entered and all who weighed in won a good prize. Free food was also provided for anglers at the weigh in. The raffle raised £80 for MBAS which is being swapped for vouchers to use as prizes in the club's Annual Festival.
Mermaid would like to thank Neil Clark for weighing the fish and to David Cains for working out the results and to Peter Maddern for his photos of the event and Tim Wills and Graham at Camborne Tackle.

Great News for Cornwall's Estuary's!!!
Cornwall IFCA announces a new bylaw for 2018,banning netting of sea fish in Cornwall's estuary's. This is great news and a great victory for all anglers who sent emails to IFCA about the matter in 2016.
