Please see below final rule changes for 2022 that were initially agreed and voted on at the Specimen fish committee meeting followed up by all clubs and members being able to comment, vote and confirm them at the annual AGM.
At the specimen fish committee meeting, which was very well attended, we had a very good discussion on all of this with everyone contributing their views and ideas. I thought that was really positive and constructive.
These rules give more flexibility to CFSA members in terms of how they can weigh and record fish in the future which most people seem to be in favour of for both boat and shore. The intention is for this to encourage more anglers to fish and feel they have a chance of winning either the shore or boat championships.
The rules will allow :
The use of video and weighing fish that will be returned ,
Removal of measuring of fish from the shore and calculated weights
Removal of an old rule preventing the use of fliers for shore fishing
Prevent the placing of retained dead fish in water before weighing and
the shore and boat championships will now move from 10 species to 7 -
Some of these proposals reflect compromises that have tried to keep everyone happy.
Please remember if that if you do wish to weigh and release fish using video you will need to follow the rules to enable these fish to be counted. There will be close scrutiny of all video and released fish to ensure that all fish are weighed fairly and accurately. Fish will be removed if any of the recorders are not happy with the quality of the video or if the weight is not accurate.
